Flu Latitudes
C19 is seasonal and affected by latitude -- and it shows on a C19 deaths rate chart of the Midwest
About that Midwest.
Here’s a chart you may not have seen. It’s a (cumulative) rate chart so the compares across states are valid.
Maybe they’re not telling you that it’s the new 2020-21 flu — plus C19 — season. C19 didn’t seriously make it to the Midwest for the “first season premiere”.
And either the flu has been out-competed by C19 or due to C19 Ct infinity testing we are tagging nearly all flu cases as C19 now. Remember that a bad flu year kills 60-80K in the US annually according to the CDC. (I’ll have more to say on that in future.)
And yes, the states labels on the middle right are ordered roughly by latitude from north to south.
Funny that.
And taking South Dakota as an example we get the usual deaths vs age curve — in this case ~14% of “C19” deaths are below retirement age instead of below 10% like in Larimer county, CO. And you know what to guess about how many of those have co-morbidities…
And yes, this is all similar to the flu except that C19 affects the oldest more so and the youngest less so to the point of being a no-op.
In fact, 58%(!) of C19 deaths in SD are over 80 so that means the average and median age of C19 death is well north of that — no surprises here once more.
And what do we have here when South Dakota is compared to past years by age for excess deaths (in grey) thereby making a valid compare of C19+flu with past flu seasons?Yes, it’s a bit worse than past years for the frail but again, if you’re pre-retirement and even up to 85 it’s basically epsilon.
Same thing in North Dakota except the oldest are more noticeably affected. Did I forget to mention that North Dakota is to the north of South Dakota?
So let’s go way down south to Oklahoma. Again, even less of an apocalypse unless you were already in the cross-hairs of the flu and even then more questionable than farther north.
Did I forget to mention latitude and seasonality?
And if you’re not at least retired you really need to take a hard look in the mirror about the carnage you are allowing this to cause to children and small businesses and their employees in particular. Never mind the cascade poverty and death it is causing in the third world not from the virus itself ironically but from the supply chain disruptions.
But Jeff Bezos is happy to see it continue — he probably made millions while you read this…
ADDENDUM: When I say viruses are seasonal, I’m not saying that this can’t be the actual root cause (also take a look at the Israeli vitamin D study which is an eye opener — sunlight driven vitamin D production also fluctuates seasonally):
