As part of the kick off to the rona-steria they conveniently forgot to tell you that of the 1B — yes, that’s a B for billion — cold infections in the US each year, ~200M of them are caused by 4 of the pre-existing strains of coronavirus. And the various health agencies around the world have historically tested for them including the US CDC.
Here’s the latest from the CDC. Notice a problem this year? Probably just in the same hidey-hole with the flu.
Or being used to inflate the daily hysteria numbers together with flu deaths (they now call it “PIC” for Pneumonia/Influenza/Corona)? — I think you know which one to pick.
And BTW, corona colds have R0 estimates as high as 8 and we now have added another strain — what are the odds that C19 was ever containable? Especially when smallpox has legendary stories of spread with an R0 of 5-7!
Here’s a table with some stats you may find interesting — look at the second to last row of the middle column. And as a recent article by Rushworth pointed out, cold viruses can definitely be deadly to the elderly — in fact more deadly than flu! — sound familiar?
Update 12/22/20 3pm:
In case you think I’m wrong about the flu in the US having disappeared, here’s this week’s clinical labs surveillance chart from the CDC:
Note that the top of the chart is at 500.
Now here’s last year at this time LOL:
